IS YOUR OFFICE "GREEN"?     Do you have an office recycling program? Do you ride share? Do you use LED lights? What can you do as a team to help the environment? We all have seen the images of plastics floating in the ocean and the terrible thoughts of sea life swallowing plastic bags. A Greenpeace study found that plastic pollution in the ocean has had a negative impact on 86 percent of all sea turtle species. These images alone should make one think twice before throwing that water bottle in the trash. But did you know that recycling reduces pollutions by cutting down on the manufacturing of new materials? According to the Office of Waste Management, creating an aluminum can made from recycled material requires less than 5 percent of the energy needed to create a brand new one. Did you know that plastic straws can't be recycled not because of the material they are made from but because of their size? It is estimated that Americans throw away about a half a billion (yes, with a “b”) straws a DAY. Those straws could circle the earth twice. Let’s not get into the number of straws used in a year! So what is the solution? Paper straws are an option. Or bring your own reusable straw. Contact us, and we will send you one. In the meantime, get your office on board. Use recycled paper.
